How the Service Works
• Medicare will support weekly testing for patients with Mechanical Heart Valves, Atrial Fibrillation, Deep Venous
Thrombosis and Pulmonary Embolism.
• Patients must have been anticoagulated for at least three months prior to enrollment on our service.
• Patients must undergo a face-to-face educational program on anticoagulation management and the use of the INR
testing device prior to its use in the home.
• Self-testing with the device is limited to a frequency of once per week.
